Heat Balancing

Problem:
In most NYC buildings that the heat in the apartments is provided through steam radiators or hot water convectors, there are allot of residents complaining of overheated rooms as well as underheated rooms. This results in resident’s discomfort and fuel heat waste as windows are open and valuable heat escapes your building.

Solution:
We install Thermostatic radiator valves in the warm rooms that can regulate the radiator to shut down based on a given temperature.
We also install sensors on the windows to detect is a window is open that will automatically shut off the steam of that room.

Master Venting

Problem:

The pipes leading from the boiler up the risers to the apartments are filled with air as the boiler turns on the steam has to fight its way up resulting in creating water hammer/ banging sounds. Furthermore as steam goes the path of the least resistance certain floors or riser lines will get heat before others which will prolong the time to heat up the building.

Solution:
We install large air vents in the riser lines to vent out the maximum amount needed based on the steam pipe volume. Thus enabling that we can lower the boiler pressure to 1-2 PSI and still achieve equal heat distribution throughout all the steam lines.
